Hints and Tips
This page is here to try and help both you the customer and us the removals team achieve a quick and stress free move. Below is some advice we give that has been gained over the many years in this business.
-
Firstly, before you arrange for us to give you a free quotation, decide on what you actually want in your new home as it is easier and
cheaper
to throw/sell unwanted items before you move home.
-
Then contact us to arrange your free quotation and advice with no obligation.
-
Shop around for packing supplies ie: boxes, tape, bubble wrap etc, we can supply these items as listed in our "Products" page. Our prices are by far the
best
in the Midlands. Shop around gather some prices then come to us for the best price. We are constantly lowering our prices so call one of our team for our special offers.
-
Start packing as early as one month before moving, we suggest packing unessential items, this makes sure there's no last minute panic. When packing, keep in mind that it's most important to fill boxes to capacity. Under-filled boxes can get crushed and over-filled boxes may fall apart. It is
vital
that all boxes are sealed to ensure the boxes full strenght and avoid items falling out.
-
When packing be sure to label boxes/bags with the rooms they are meant to go in ie: label room bed #1 and we will label the door to make things easier. Be sure to label all your essential items that you may need straight away ie: Kettle, Bedding, etc, so unpacking will be easier.
-
Notify all accounts/utilities of your new address, make a list a go through one by one to avoid them not being able to contact you.
-
Three days before you move:
Disconnect major appliances. Refrigerator, washer and dryer, etc, should all be disconnected, defrosted and dried out.
-
Start to finish off packing
-
Decide if you want to take your valuables with you ie: cash, passport, deeds, etc, although they are safe in our hands peace of mind is priceless.
-
As potted plants are great space consumers we prefer them to be de-potted and bagged up to make packing better.
-
Make sure all single items are boxed as this reduces both damages and time to load the van. Taking special attention to the "forgotten garage/shed" ie: tools, paints, etc, the only way we can take chemicals such as paint, white spirits, is by boxing them also, ensure all tools are clean and sharp garden tools covered.
